For the past few weeks Leo and I have been working on a project to get bloggers together for a cause. Today we launched.Blog Action Day is based on the premise that if every blog posted on the same issue on the same day we could effectively change the conversation on the web that day.So we’re asking bloggers – i.e. you! – to register their blogs to participate. All you have to do to be a part of the initiative is post on October 15th a post that relates to the environment. It can be to do with your usual topic or totally just about an environmental issue. So for example on NorthxEast I’m planning on doing a write up about the best environmental blogs around so that it fits the usual subject of the site. We’ve been busy marketing the idea so that we’d have some momentum prior to launch, and so far there are some top 100 blogs already participating as well as a ton of my favourite blogs who’ve committed too!So head over to the site and Get Involved!, we need as many bloggers to get on board as possible, big and small. There’s plenty of information on the site as well as details on how you can help in other ways. And here’s the promo video:

That’s a great idea, and I’d love to take part. I’ll have to give some thought to how I can relate the environment to content creation, though…

Great idea Collis. Just signed up.Bloggers really should try and fit their BAD post into their own niche … could make for some very interesting and creative perspectives.
Really amazed who has thought about this event and actually implement it. I have joined this event immediately. We have to show people the power of the internet as well.
Good idea Collis. Perhaps I could write about creating content with the intent of affecting change. Interesting. I think I’m in
great idea! I will definately try and recruit some people for it.
Brilliant idea! I live in Mumbai (India) which is one of the most polluted cities in the world and has lesser parks than most other major cities. Consequently, the city can get suffocating for one at times. The pollution in Indian cities (especially Mumbai/Bombay) and the rise of it due to the increase in the number of gas guzzling expensive SUV’s/Cars could be a great topic I think…!
At the debut of my new blog… just hours before it starts I’ll try to beat the deadline. The date can be the blog’s launch – October 15th!

Found this initiative this afternoon and blogged about it here. Will write again on the Blog Action Day. That’s the least we can do.
Hmm, sounds like a good idea all round. I like the sound of the ‘niche’ idea. My blog is based around either web design or Apple, and with working for an environmental charity I might just write up something to link them all together maybe.Check out out on Oct. 15th at http://stevemclintock.com
