Despite the fact that blog themes abound all over the web, strangely blog design on the whole isn’t exactly the pinnacle of aesthetics. So it’s nice to come across blogs that are slick, sharp and sound in their design, that are high on visual goodness and low on eye-jarring nastiness. Here for your viewing pleasure are 19 of the best and brightest in blog design from across the web.

I think you forgot to mention my blog
Thanks for featuring my blog, Collis!I’m absolutely honored to be listed next to these beautiful blogs.
wow great list I love thebignoob its one of my fav
Love the list. My favorites are the Bignoob and Mark Bixby.
You forgot to mention NxE… that design wows me every time.
I enjoyed the list, thanks for showcasing my blog.I guess it’s not fair to pick my own design as my favorite
, so if I HAVE to pick a different one then I’ll go with Svenigson, I like the grid usage.Keep up the blogging tips — I’ve been trying to use them on my own blog as much as possible — Thanks again.
I thought you might like to know that some CSS is coming through the RSS feed, at least on Netvibes:h6 { margin-bottom:-10px; margin-top:5px; font-size:20px; } div.big_img img { border-top: 1px solid #aaaaaa; border-bottom: 1px solid #aaaaaa; border-left:0px; border-right:0px; } div.big_img { background-color:#cccccc; padding-bottom:3px; width:550px; margin-bottom:20px; }
YoungGoGetter and 31Three would be my favs in that list. I think NorthxEast would be up there too
As a hobby blogger, I do have a desire to learn more about web design. I mess about with my sites now and again, and although I’m getting better, I’m far from good.
Interestingly, I’ve just checked my feedreader to find this from the Tutorial Blog
@Ben: You’re right, that’s a lovely blog design, actually I thought of a couple more this morning, I may have to make another list soon!
@Matt: Thanks for the tip, I’ve fixed that up now, that’ll teach me to do stylesheet hacks
@Armen: How funny is that that NxE is in that list, yay!
Nice indeed and have inspired me to re-design mine when I get a chance and quite from work….
Without wanting to sound incredibly big headed, my site roxxorz!!!I’m actually working on a “redesign” (more an evolution) so if you don’t like it now then maybe you will in a month or so… I hope
@Ben: wow yeah it does
And meanwhiles I have NEVER seen a post which has 800+ comments before, thats amazing, really amazing!

One of the blogs I read daily (Paul Enderson at Relfection) has redesigned lately. His new site looks excellent.http://paulenderson.com/
Thanks for the include Collis.It would probably make you look a little cocky, being that this is your blog, but NxE should be on this list as well. You’ve got one of the most innovative blogs out there.

I would like to chime in and agree that both versions of NxE that I’ve seen have been truly amazing!

Collis – you fond one of the Harry Potter posts right?
The comments on those posts just went crazy. They haven’t stopped since the post was originally written and I did 0 promotion. I actually do very little promotion for my site at all so I’m lucky I get any comments really.
Thanks guys appreciate the feedback on NxE! I was thinking the other day that I should make a blog about design for blogs the way copyblogger is about copy for blogs. It’d be a good niche. If only I had more time!
@Ben: Yeah that was insane, evidently you touched on a nerve! Well done in any case!!
God…….. They are really fabulous…. >_

Another nice one I came across was http://www.tonygeer.com
Great article! I’m in the middle of redesigning my site, and the designs in the list are great inspiration.
I agree, it would be cocky for him to put his own site on there, but it deserves to be at the top, very innovative and smooth, I love the design of NxE.
YoungGoGetter looks pretty, but I think Bartelme did a step back with the new design, lokks strange, especially on a 24inch monitor.

great collections, really inspiring.
Hi Collis – thanks for the mention!! jen
Wow, TheBigNoob.com really does it for me. I’m jealous. I want a great looking blog, but mine looks clunky to me.

Another nice one I really like is Kineda. Works like a blog but doesn’t look like one.
Wow, very impressive list. They all look great. I guess that gives us all something to shoot for. I agree with Don Ray, the Kineda is an excellent format.

Beautiful collection, I too enjoy the visually enhanced site. Sometimes that’s the thing that sticks in my mind and keeps me coming back! Bravo!

very nice selection. I like the fact that they are xthml and css compliant menus being used there.
